How to Make a Ribbon Wrapped adornment

Ribbon wrapped Styrofoam ornaments:

The other day I was bored and decided to create a new and unique embellishment at my craft table, so I gathered some scraps that I had just laying nearby the house and got to work. With just a few materials I created a lovely embellishment by covering a Styrofoam cylinder in ornamental ribbons. This embellishment was easy to make and only took me a half hour to create.

Snowflake Ornament

Start by taking a five inch in circumference Styrofoam cylinder and then cut it down to two inches in length. Place the Styrofoam cylinder aside and cut eight strips of white ribbon (5/8" width) three and a half inches long. Glue each ribbon from the top to the bottom of the cylinder all the way around. Then cut four strips of blue snowflake ribbon (3/8" width) three and half inches long glue over the town of each white ribbon alternating every other one. Now cut four strips of gold ribbon (1/8") the same length and glue the gold ribbon over the white ribbons between the blue ones. The next step is to make a ornamental bow and hanger for the top. Cut two strips of four inch sheer light blue ribbons and cut two gold ribbon strips four inch in lengths. Fold the first piece in half and glue the town to the town top then glue the two ends to the middle, do the same with the rest of the ribbons until you form a bow. Lastly cut an additional one piece of gold ribbon (1/8") three inches long form a loop and glue down on top of the town of the bow and obtain with a blue ball right pin.

Now you have your very own unique snowy winter ribbon ornament. Don't just stop with one embellishment make a set to put on your Christmas tree. These ornaments can be made in any shape, size or color you like so be creative with your design. For example you can use red and white ribbons to make it look like a candy cane or use a Styrofoam ball for a sphere shape. I choose the cylinder for a more unique look.
