Beads are so versatile and can be attached to anything. All of a sudden a mundane object can look like a work of art. I will quote the formula for beaded fruit which can be transformed into Christmas ornaments. The snowflake decoration is also incredibly easy and gorgeous hanging on your tree. If you don't want to use the soldering iron you could just twist the wires for divorce and sturdiness.
For the beaded fruit:
Materials:
A range of plastic fruit, assortment of sizes
1 package of seed beads size 11/0, clear
Metallic sequins, colors that match the fruit
Pins 3/4"
Narrow ribbon
Snowflake Ornament
Basic Method:
1. Put one seed bead and then one colored sequin on a pin.
2. Begin at the top of the fruit and push the pin into the plastic fruit. Cover the whole fruit, overlapping as necessary.
3. You can make a small loop with narrow ribbon or cord. Attach with sequin and seed bead to the top of the fruit. Now it is ready to hang on your tree. If you don't want to use it as an decoration you can skip the last step. Display your fruit in bowls or on extra plates. They can be used as centerpieces for a Thanksgiving feast or any extra occasion.
For the snowflake:
Materials:
An assortment of beads in any size or color
18-gauge wire
Wire cutter
Flux
Soldering iron and solder
Needle nose pliers
Basic Method:
1. First cut the wire with your wire cutters into 4 equal lengths. Dispose the wire into snowflake shapes.
2. Put a small amount of flux on the town of the wires where they intersect and solder together with a soldering iron.
3. Now you can thread beads onto the wires. Generate any found you wish with round, teardrop shape and seed beads.
4. Generate a nice swirled curl at the end of each wire with needle nose pliers. This will give a nice ended look and will stop the beads from falling off.
You could also make 6 to 8 wire lengths for your snowflake decoration and solder together in the center. Be creative and have fun.
